Are you always struggling to find the right dog treats for your pup? I’ve struggled to find ones with minimal ingredients that wouldn’t upset my dog, Henry’s, tummy.
What if you could select the ingredients you want to use and those you want to avoid for homemade DIY dog treats? That would almost be magic. Sometimes magic is possible.
I created a fun and free tool that does all this and more. You may get one dog cookie treat recipe or several with your selection(s). Either way, you will definitely find a simple dog treat recipe your pup will love. With this in mind, let’s dig into this tool and discover your dog’s favorite cookie (or soon-to-be favorite treat).
Budget tip:
One of the best benefits of a homemade dog treat is that you control all the ingredients. You don’t have to read a ton of bags to find one you think might agree with your dog and won’t cost you a ton of money. Also, you make the treat with love for your buddy. That’s a major win-win for your dog’s health and your wallet!
What we love with this free cookie creator tool:
Silcone bone mold for frozen dog treats - Henry's favorite shape
Silcone heart shaped mold for cold or pressed dog treats - always my favorite
Lick mat - a great idea is to spread a no-bake treat on a lick and freeze
Snuffle mat - to make your homemade dog treats more fun to find and eat
Cookie jar - a good cookie jar will help keep your dog treats fresher longer
Why create a favorite dog treats tool?
We all struggle with finding what to give our dogs as treats. Heck, I’ve bought bags of treats for Henry. He’d eat one treat and promptly get sick. Homemade is generally a great route to avoid issues. But some dog treats are so involved. My life needs an easy and quick treat. I bet you’re the same way. In a nutshell, that’s the origin of this cookie selector tool.
How to use this dog cookie creator?
It’s super simple! Your dog may even be able to use it. I think Henry could do it. Here’s what you do:
- Select your dog’s favorite flavors (multiple flavors are fine)
- Or type in a flavor (if you provide a flavor that is toxic to dogs, you’ll be asked to try again)
- Select any ingredients you need to avoid for your dog
- You can even type in an ingredient to avoid
- Or you can leave the avoid ingredients section blank
- Then simply hit the button that says “Get Recipes “ and you’ll get one or more recipes based on your selections.
Easy, right?
If you want to redo the selections, simply unselect what you don’t want, select what you do want, then hit the “Get Recipes” button again. There’s no limit on how many times you can use this free tool.
Why are there options to avoid ingredients?
This part is important since dogs with various health diagnoses like epilepsy, diabetes, cancer, or other issues may need to stick to the diet prescribed by their vet. Also, dogs trying to lose weight need to avoid high-calorie ingredients. It’s all about making an easy treat that meets your dog’s needs. Of course, if you don’t have anything your dog needs to avoid, just don’t select anything.
Give it a try! I think you’ll like it.

Stop Fretting About Your Buddy’s Dog Treats!
It’s definitely confusing to navigate the multitude of dog treats. Some say healthy. Others say they help with this issue or that issue. Although you and your vet know what your dog can have better than anyone else. But the packaging is always enticing. So, you buy it. Then, if your pup is like Henry, they get a tummy ache or have a GI issue with just one cookie.
While I struggle with having enough time to bake, I can handle a few ingredients, especially when it’s geared toward Henry’s needs. That’s why I created this fun, free cookie selector. Henry and I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Come back as many times as you’d like and create a different yummy treat.
I did NOT think of things I would need to avoid! Heck, I KNOW you are supposed to but did I think Nooo!
And over one hundred dollars for treats in a year, Oh my GOODness!!! Now I know I need to save money with dog treats
It really is amazing how quickly the treat bill grows. This tool is so great to help find an easy and affordable dog treat. I hope some will work for your kitties as well.
Im in love! Things to avoid is amazing! I gotta share this with EVERYONE! ❤️

Thanks! I’m soooo happy to hear you like the cookie creator. I hope Nili will love the treats as well. Henry says she needs a cookie now.
Wow, Terri this is an awesome tool! I’m so impressed. It’s so simple to use and the recipes are fantastic – thank you so much for sharing this great tool.
Thanks, Cathy! This makes me super happy to hear. It was fun to create the cookie selector tool. I’m thrilled that people like it as much as I do.
Terri, this is brilliant! I love this tool. Wow. I even ran it through for recipes I knew my FiveSibes would have loved, and it’s so great to have the option of selecting ingredients we did *not* want. With having a dog with epilepsy, this is so important! Wow. What a terrific idea you have developed! I’m so excited to share this with my readers! A huge round of a-paws (!) for you for this fabulous idea! Love! Love! Love!
Thanks, Dorothy! It was so much fun! I really want people to play with it and find treats their pups will love and they’ll love making. Of course, there had to be a fill in section for favorites and a section of what to avoid. I was thinking of Gibson with the ingredients to avoid. I knew his epilepsy was triggered with certain foods. I’m glad you saw that part and it has a write in section as well. I truly appreciate the praise and kind words. It means a lot to me.
