20 Great Dog Lover Gifts That Give Back: Tail-Wagging Treasures with a Charitable Twist

I bet everyone has their favorite charities or causes they love to support. Here at Tail Wag Wisdom, we love dog lover gifts that make our tails wag more than usual. That is probably no surprise.

But, if you’re like me, you love finding a gift that fits the person just right. If you can also support a worthy cause in the process, then it really does make tails wag. With this in mind, let’s dig in and discover some fur-rific gifts everyone will love.

First, a quick note. In order to make this list of paws-some gifts, there must be a pet-focused giveback with the purchase. In other words, these gifts allow you to give twice (once to your gift recipient and second to the charity associated with the gift). That’s wag-worthy in my book!

Budget tip:
Gifts can be expenisive, especially in this down economy. However, you can find discounts and sales. Personally, I love to find gifts that match the person's personality or style best. Then ramping it up with a company or organization that givesback makes it a no-brainer of a purchase. It's how you can make a positive impact in the world and give a great gift as well! It truly is the best of both worlds!

a traveling dog lover gifts is a pup passport
Henry with Pup Passport.

The Pup Passport (Remington’s Pup Memory Passport) is such a cute idea from the mind of Pennies Places and Paws.

I can hear you saying “What is The Pup Passport?” Fair enough. Simply put, it’s a unique way to document your dog’s travel adventures with you. Specifically, it’s a booklet that you can add:

  • Vacation photos
  • Medical and insurance info
  • Write fun memories
  • Stamps from different locations or parks

Plus, Pennies Places and Paws can customize a page with your dog’s specific details. How amazing is that? Plus, the turnaround time is terrific as well. She has it in the mail in less than a week.

Of course, you can also add the details yourself. Either way, it’s a great gift idea!

Plus, for every purchase made $1 is donated to the non-profit organization, World Vet.

dog lover gifts include Epi-Tales
Cover of award-winning “EPIc DOG TALES” by Dorothy Wills-Raftery. This photo is provided courtesy of Dorothy Willis-Raftery.

I can only imagine how scary it must be to get a diagnosis of Epilepsy as a dog parent. But, I do know where I would turn. Without a doubt, it would be FiveSibes and Dorothy Wills-Raftery.

According to the FiveSibes website, “there are over 600,000 dogs living with epilepsy in the United States alone.” WOW!!!

However, if I want to be supportive of a dog parent with an Epi-Dog, I’d give this award-winning book – EPIc Dog Tales. It’s a beautiful coffee table book about dogs thriving with the disease. Dorothy is a warrior in the Epi-Dog world along with her fur angel, Gibson. Who better to turn to for inspiration?

“…I learned so much in my quest to give the best life possible to Gibson…”
~ Dorothy Wills-Raftery

Plus, I can tell you Dorothy is continuing her quest daily to help dog parents with Epi-Dogs. She’s an absolute marvel!

Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from each book sale goes to helping other Epi-Dogs. There’s no going wrong with this gift!

Do you know that purple is the color for Epilepsy? If you don’t, then that may be a good thing. But you may have a friend who could use some support.

A truly lovely way to spread the word about Epi-Dogs while supporting these brave pups.

$1 from these bracelets goes to support The Wally Foundation for Canine Epilepsy. That’s an amazing give-back that deserves a spot on everyone’s shopping list.

Explaining the rainbow bridge to young children can be a difficult task. But once again, Dorothy Wills-Raftery has written an award-winning book, “Wolfie, What Is The Rainbow Bridge?” This book tackles the subject in a beautiful and heartwarming way. There’s no need for tissue. It’s not a sad book. Rather it’s a beautiful and educational book. Dorothy wrote this book with the help of her grandson, Cody.

Dorothy and Cody didn’t take this task lightly. Dorothy confesses that, “I contacted several people who work in the pet field and with children, including a pediatrics teams, therapy dog handlers, grief specialists, and those in the veterinary and medical fields” to get everything right for this book.

It’s a great gift for parents, grandparents, teachers, vets, aunts, uncles, and anyone with young children who will struggle to understand the rainbow bridge.

Even better, a portion of all the proceeds goes to help homeless huskies in need. That makes for a beautiful gift with a major impact!

6. For Sheltie lovers

dog lover gifts include this sheltie calendar
The cover of the 2026 Minnesota Sheltie Rescue Calendar

I always need a calendar every year. It’s often one of the simple things that gets overlooked. Additionally, when you give a calendar, you are thought of every time the receiver looks at the calendar.

The Minnesota Sheltie Rescue has a great gift calendar, which is literally packed full of adorable rescue Shelties. This is a great organization that places every dog into foster care while waiting for their furever home.

“We work with animal shelters that have Shelties in need, allowing them to provide a spot for another waiting dog. Shelties often do not present well in a shelter environment.”

~ Minnesota Sheltie Rescue

Minnesota Sheltie Rescue has found furever homes for over 1,000 beautiful pups.

If you have a dog or Sheltie lover on your list, this calendar, which is one of the non-profit’s fundraisers, is a paw-rrific option!

Also, she has cards, mugs, candles, shirts, and totes with her artwork. The best part is that she donates a portion of her online shop sales to animal charity organizations.

As a passionate animal advocate, my mission is raising awareness – and funds – through my art for those who can’t speak for themselves, namely the precious creatures who share this earth with us. Throughout the year, I’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds from my online shop to a designated animal advocacy organization, rescue or shelter/sanctuary.

8. For the coffee-loving (and more) pup parents

A woman pours a cup of coffee with a dog looking.

I have to say I love my morning coffee. Actually, I can be a bit of a coffee snob. I don’t like just any kind of Java. It must meet my standards. Do you know other pet parents like me? I bet you do.

That’s where Husky Coffee Co. comes into play. They have fur-rific coffee. But even better, they give 20% of every purchase to 280 rescues across the US.

However, Husky Coffee Co. offers more than just coffee. They have tea, dog treats, apparel, and other gifts for nearly any type of pet parent.

“Our founder, Oliver Carson, was a humane society volunteer when he was younger, and started Great Dane Coffee Company in honor of his Great Dane, Fetty. Seeing the impact, he expanded into 30 breed-specific brands…”

~ Husky Coffee Co.

This amazing company donates tens of thousands of dollars (and pups will be happy also tons of dog treats) each year to rescue organizations. I’d say that deserves a paws-up for Husky Coffee Co.

I have a confession – I love fun socks! Okay, so maybe I won’t make any fashion runway with my socks, but I love them. They make me smile and not many people see my socks anyhow. So, really they are for me, right?

If you have a friend who loves fun socks, then Conscious Step has the perfect gift for you. Conscious Step has partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to give back. And they’re doing it in a big way by $1 from the sale of each sock that goes to shelters around the country to help save dogs. One of many fabulous dog lover gifts is a gift that gives back like a candle that gives to rescue dogs.

I have mentioned in the previous posts that my dog, Henry, isn’t fond of fire. But I do love the smell of a good candle. Sometimes a great candle can make a room feel fresh and new. However, when I do light a candle, I make sure it’s out of sight of Henry.

If you have a friend who’s nutty for candles, then the folks at Scripted Fragrance may have the perfect gift for you. They have a soy candle with an outdoorsy smell called Rescue Dog Candle.

The inspiration behind Scripted Fragrance is a cute Dachshund, named Dixie-Lee, and the founder’s beloved South Carolina. It’s a mix that has worked well and gives back as well.

Simple tricks to make traveling with your dog this holiday season easier and more affordable.

“A portion of proceeds from our Rescue and Cat Candles benefit the North Shore Animal League of America (link opens in new tab/window) while our other pet candles benefit the AKC Canine Health Foundation (link opens in new tab/window). Additionally, we’re proud to support DanceBlue (link opens in new tab/window), which raises funds for pediatric cancer research and support.”

“There are dogs, and then there is everything else. The bond between humans and our fur babies is unbreakable. It’s impossible to capture the spirit of our canine companions, but that doesn’t stop us from trying. This is where the idea behind Scripted begins.”

~ Scripted Fragrance

That’s a company I can definitely get behind as a dog mom of a rescue pup!

Do you have a chocolate lover on your list? Actually, I think there are a couple of chocoholics on my list. So, this is definitely on my radar.

Besides, who doesn’t love a little something sweet? Especially when you can give back.

The folks at Rescue Chocolate give 100% of their net profits to animal rescue organizations around the US. Yes, that’s correct, 100%! How amazing is that, right?

Another great aspect of Rescue Chocolate is that all the products are vegan. Even better is that they have fun with their product names to call attention to dogs in need. For example, you can purchase chocolates called:

  • Peanut Butter Pit Bull, calls attention to the breed misconceptions
  • The Fix, reminds people of the need to spay and neuter pets
  • Foster-iffic Peppermit, highlights the importance of fostering pets

“We believe that all things good in life are improved by our four-legged friends and hope to infuse that playful, fun nature into everything we do while giving back to our furry friends.”
